BeagleBone Black eMMC Backup

Once you have a custom build on your Beagle Bone Black, you should probably create a backup.

This can be done with a SSH Command. There is a small gotcha if you are backing up to your Macintosh.

On the Beaglebone you must use the “bs=1M” parameter, however when you stream the data to your mac you need to use “bs=1m”. Yes, capitalizing or lowercasing your M will make or break your day.
sudo dd if=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1M | ssh beagle@192.168.1.99 'dd of=/Volumes/macFive/Linux/eMMC_BBB.img bs=1m'
